My first week in Missoula
Hi everyone! Yesterday was my first official Sunday at FPC Missoula and I was so tired after I didn’t get around to writing a blog post. So here we are on a Monday!
The service went well yesterday and I met a lot of very kind people. I will admit it felt weird to be leading worship… this week has been such a struggle, I didn’t feel like I should’ve been in charge of anything after how complicated grocery shopping has been for me in a new city (lol).
This week, I did a couple really iconic Missoula activities! I experienced my first river float on the Clark Fork with Steve and Laura, and I went downtown on Thursday night to experience the city’s weekly food truck-live music-makers market extravaganza. It was really nice to spend time with new friends and learn more about the culture in the city.

This week has felt like the longest week of my life and I think that’s because everything has been taking 10x the amount of effort it normally would if I were in Michigan. The roads here are confusing to me, and I’m not just saying that because I’m directionally challenged — they’re seriously so different than anywhere I’ve ever driven before, so it is pretty stressful for me to drive to get anywhere. I am figuring out where to go for what items, how to perform well at a new job, and how to live in a new house with many other people all at once.
Prayer requests
- I’m feeling pretty homesick. I am struggling to keep up stamina as I navigate a new city, a new job, and a new living situation. Please pray that my confidence and optimism stays strong!
- I have to get my license, registration, and car insurance switched from Michigan to Montana in the next week or so and I’m very nervous about that process. Please pray that it is miraculously easy and that I meet nice people at the DMV.
- We have had a few pesky mice in the house which is a huge phobia of mine. Please pray we can get that problem taken care of!!
